After his wartime service, Dewey Austin Goff served as the Commander of the National Guard unit in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He also owned and operated the Goff & Putnam Truck Stop, E’town Café, The Silver Grill, Goff Hardware, and Lincoln Trail Motel and Restaurant. He was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. Dewey Goff also was a member of the American Legion Post No. 113 and Morrison Masonic Lodge No. 76 F&M.
Dewey Austin Goff lived out his life in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, near his siblings Robert Dean Goff and Opal Lee Goff Tabb. His sister, Kathleen Goff Hall, traveled frequently from Florida and Tennessee to visit them. Dewey Austin Goff passed away peacefully, in his recliner, on June 25, 1997, after coming in from mowing his grass on that hot day. |
